What You Need to Know When There Are Boil Water Advisories
When a Boil Water Advisory is issued, your tap water may be unsafe to drink or use for cooking unless boiled. Please follow these steps:
How to Boil Water Safely:
- Fill a clean pot with tap water.
- Bring to a rolling boil (large bubbles) for at least 1 full minute.
- Let the water cool naturally.
- Store in clean, covered containers for later use.
Use Boiled or Bottled Water For:
- Drinking and making ice.
- Cooking and preparing food.
- Brushing teeth.
- Mixing baby formula.
You May Use Tap Water For:
- Showering and bathing (avoid swallowing water).
- Washing dishes only if you use hot, soapy water and rinse with boiled or bottled water
- Laundry
